Esme Kenney Memorial Sculpture

Entertainment Structures Group, a division of Steven Schaefer Associates, recently completed a pro bono project for the July 2010 installation of the Esme Kenney memorial sculpture. Esme Kenney was a student at SCPA before her tragic death in 2009. The sculpture was a collaboration of students past and present, including artist Jessie Henson. The sculpture itself includes 200 glass spheres in a variety of sizes ranging from 2” to 12” in diameter that hang over the third floor atrium area in the new SCPA school downtown.  For more information, visit Remembering Esme.

STEVEN SCHAEFER ASSOCIATES’ BELLE OF BATON ROUGE PARKING GARAGE PROJECT WINS AWARD!

South Central Magazine honored the Belle of Baton Rouge Parking Structure with the 2008 Award of Excellence, Private Building. This $11 million 380-car parking garage is a cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete structure on auger-cast piles.  The parking structure is located adjacent to the levee for the Mississippi River so there were several design challenges with levee right of ways and foundations had to keep from penetrating the levee toe.  The garage links the casino through pedestrian bridges and walkways.

STEVEN SCHAEFER ASSOCIATES HELPS LOCAL HABITAT PROJECT

For the fourth year in a row, Steven Schaefer Associates has helped build a Habitat for Humanity house. Working in the Riverside area of Cincinnati, our employees worked on the foundation’s wall system using insulated concrete forms (ICFs).  As per tradition, the effort was coordinated by one of our co-ops, Mike Merz.  Every employee gets involved – working in four shifts over two days.
