THE BELLE OF BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge, LA Addressing the need for additional parking, The Belle of Baton Rouge, a casino and entertainment venue, built an $11 million 380-car parking garage. It is a cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete structure on auger-cast piles. The parking structure is located adjacent to the levee for the Mississippi River so there were several design challenges with levee right of ways and foundations had to keep from penetrating the levee toe. KENWOOD TOWNE CENTRE PARKING – Cincinnati, OH Steven Schaefer Associates provided the structural design for this three-level precast concrete parking structure at Kenwood Towne Centre. The garage is in the shape of a quarter of an ellipse with a total footprint of approximately 135,000 sq ft. The elevated levels are composed of prestressed double tee beams, inverted tee beams and exterior spandrel beams. Lateral loads are resisted by a combination of exterior concrete moment frames and interior concrete shear walls.

PICTORIA TOWER PARKING – Springdale, OH We provided the structural design for the foundations of this six-level precast concrete parking garage, based on the garage loads provided to us by the precast manufacturer. The foundations consisted of concrete foundation walls, grade beams and pile caps on augercast piles. There were also extensive concrete retaining walls on the interior of the structure; some supported on spread footings and others on augercast piles.	Larger View

COLLEGE OF MOUNT ST. JOSEPH – Cincinnati, OH Steven Schaefer Associates provided the structural design for this 31,000 sq ft parking garage with two elevated parking decks, each with 91 parking spaces. The structural system consists of cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete slabs spanning to 58 ft post-tensioned beams. The post-tensioning system uses un-bonded, draped tendons. The concrete columns are supported on drilled piers. Access to the garage is by free-standing ramps sloped down to the adjacent grade. The free-standing ramps also utilize post-tensioned concrete and are supported by drilled piers.	Larger View

COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT – Covington, KY This four-story, post-tensioned, 82,000 sq ft, 196-car garage supports a nine-story hotel (140,000 sq ft with 168 rooms), 1,800 sq ft of meeting space, and seven suites. The hotel building was constructed with two-way cast-in-place reinforced concrete flat plate slabs. The exterior of the first through third floors consisted of pre-cast concrete with the remaining floors' exteriors comprised of decorative stucco.
