MASON CITY BUILDING
– Mason, OH
Housing the city administration offices, fire and police offices, and court facilities, this two-story 130,000 sq ft building includes a 30,000 sq ft basement designed for the mechanical rooms, record storage areas, and room for expansion. The structural system consists of a three-story steel braced frame. The two supported floors are framed with a composite steel beam/concrete slab system. The roof is framed with light gage steel trusses to form a hip roof that is finished with metal roofing. The design features a dramatic two-story atrium/clerestory and a clock tower.

WEST CHESTER PUBLIC SAFETY CAMPUS
– West Chester, OH
Three new buildings are part of this new public safety campus for West Chester Township. There is a new fire headquarters building, IT/Communications building and a cemetery garage. The fire station has three levels, including a training tower. The walkout lower level includes training and storage areas. The main level has the apparatus bay, turn-out gear room, sleeping rooms, dayroom and offices. The exercise area, locker space, and additional training and storage areas are on the upper level. The walls are CMU and metal stud backup for the brick and aluminum panels, the floors precast planks, and the roofs bar joists and light gage metal trusses.

CINCINNATI/NORTHERN KY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIREFIGHTING FACILITY
– Hebron, KY
Steven Schaefer Associates provided the structural design of this two story, 25,000 sq ft fire station that includes an apparatus bay, office area, living quarters, training areas, mezzanine and clock tower. It has six bays in the apparatus bay, two single-story areas, a two story area with a basement, and a two story storage area. There is a mechanical mezzanine in the attic space. The foundation system uses grade beams spanning to drilled piers. Floors are supported with precast concrete planks bearing on masonry walls. The roof of the office/living area is gable style steel joists and the roof of the apparatus bay is sloped steel joists.

OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL POST #8
– Georgetown, OH
This single-story 6,200 sq ft facility includes offices, conference rooms, dispatch, garage, public meeting space, and employee locker rooms. The facility incorporates the latest dispatch and facility management technologies. Construction is sloped metal roof on steel bar joists and steel beams, supported by interior steel columns and exterior load bearing masonry walls. A curved accent wall highlights the front of the building and provides support for an extended entrance canopy.
